ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid)

Information

Alpha lipoic acid is one of the most powerful antioxidants identified to date. ALA (alpha lipoic acid) enhances the effects of other antioxidants, fights free radicals, helps you lose weight by stabilising insulin levels, increases creatine absorption in the muscles and builds fat-free muscle mass.

ALA increases sensitivity to insulin. If insulin sensitivity is increased, there is no need to maintain high insulin levels in order to optimise the transportation of glycogen-building carbohydrates and muscle-building amino acids to the muscles. Low insulin levels boost the fat-burning process in the body. ALA even increases the effect of creatine. The higher the level of insulin sensitivity, the higher the absorption of creatine in the muscles. This results in higher levels of creatine in the muscles, subsequently improving the effect of the creatine.

Thanks to its unique structure lipoic acid is able to bond with free radicals. These are highly reactive molecules created by environmental contamination, radiation, alcohol, smoking and even exercise. The fact is that free radicals are continually forming in the body. These may harm cell membranes, enzymes and DNA, and many scientists believe free radicals to speed up the ageing process and the occurrence of certain common diseases. Dihydrolipoic acid,  the substance created in the body by lipoic acid, is a highly powerful inhibitor of free radicals. Lipoic acid may even “recycle” other antioxidants such as vitamin E, vitamin C, glutathione and coenzyme Q10 and reduce protein glycation in body tissue (a degenerative process that causes high blood pressure and cardiovascular problems).

Instructions

1 capsule 3 times a day 30 minutes before meals. Max. 3 capsules per day.
